Sue Kirkman has been with us since 1991 and serves as our Minister of Music.
A lifelong resident of the Winston-Salem area, Sue graduated from the old Gray High School (where, appropriately enough, the UNC School of the Arts is now located). She and her husband, Charles, make their home here in Clemmons.
We are privileged to have a musician of Sue’s caliber leading us in worship each week. A gifted keyboardist and accomplished director, she leads our outstanding choir and a team of musicians which often includes acoustic bass, trumpet, drums, and sax. Three times a year, our music and drama ministries mount full-scale productions—for Christmas, Easter, and Independence Day!
Though we employ a variety of styles and instruments, we are still partial to classic and traditional worship here at Union Hill. If you want to be part of a church that is vibrant and alive, sit under solid teaching grounded in the inerrant Word of God, yet still enjoy singing time-honored hymns which have inspired the Church for centuries—then this may be just the place for YOU!
Always on the lookout for fresh talent, Sue is ever eager to welcome a new person to our choir or Worship Team. While her emphasis is on excellence, she is an unfailing encourager who wants everyone on her team to enjoy themselves and do the very best that they can—all to the glory of God. They seem to have an awfully good time in the process!
When Sue’s not making music here at the church or offering a friendly welcome to Wal-Mart shoppers (where she works as a greeter at the Hanes Mall Boulevard store), she’s likely off somewhere with her husband Charlie—probably spending as much time as possible with their family! They have three daughters: Jennifer, Angela, and Christina; one grandson, Grayson; and two granddaughters, Natalie and Rachel—all of whom they are very proud! We are equally proud to have Sue as a vital part of our Ministry Team!

Hobbies: Anything she can enjoy doing with the family
