From the Pastor’s Pen . . .
Welcome . . . to the internet home of Union Hill Baptist Church!
We’re delighted that you’ve discovered us here, appreciate your taking the time to look around—and hope you’ll decide to visit us in our physical location (at the intersection of Peace Haven and Lasater Roads in Clemmons) sometime soon!
As you’ll see elsewhere on this site, we have enjoyed a long and illustrious history as the oldest Baptist church in Forsyth County. Yet, proud as we are of our past, our focus is firmly fixed on all that God is doing here in the present and for the future!
We’re a small congregation (still a hundred or less most Sundays) but, while we may not be able to offer all the programs of a mega-church, our size means that we CAN stay closely and personally connected to each other! We are a part of each other’s lives—in both good times and bad! Rather than attempting to do everything, we prefer to do a few things really well . . . and one of the things we work really hard at is in knowing and caring for each of our people and families in a personal way.
Our church is part of a rapidly vanishing breed. It seems that most churches with solid Bible teaching and preaching have opted today for a very contemporary style of worship—nothing wrong with that—it’s just not our style. Unfortunately, traditional worship seems largely confined to mostly dying churches where teaching and doctrine have often fallen by the wayside. We’re unusual today in that, while our worship style remains rooted in classic tradition for the most part (with hymns and choir), nothing takes a backseat to the clear and unequivocal teaching and preaching of the Word of God. (Of course, there’s nothing staid or stuffy about our music either—as we have an acoustic bass and, occasionally, sax and drums to jazz things up!)
We are not a perfect people, by any means. Sin is a terrible disease that destroys us all; thankfully, Jesus has helped us to discover the He is its only cure! Apart from Christ, our lives are hopelessly tangled and undone—just like everyone else’s. Yet we are committed to taking time out from all the mess to listen to Him and love on each other! Nothing would please us more than to have an opportunity to get to know and love on YOU too!
We’re not completely well yet . . . but we ARE getting there! Won’t you drop in and join us—in growing well together?!
